Kerry 1-14 2-11 Dublin

Old enemies Dublin and Kerry will have to do it all again next Saturday after a thrilling encounter resulted in a draw at Semple Stadium.

Kerry had a dream start with a point and a goal courtesy of Aodan MacGearailt in the 11th minute. Further points from John Crowley and Mike-Frank Russell put them further ahead.

Dublin scored only two points from play in the first half and together with a free were behind one point and five to three points at the break.

This despite the fact that Dublin missed a succession of goal chances in the final 10 minutes and Kerry came out with all guns blazing in the second half. Dublin were still picking up the scores from frees but with 20 minutes down were still seven points down.

However, Dublin brought on Vinnie Murphy for Colin Moran and in the 26th minute he found the back of the Kerry net after a shot from Jason Sherlock was blocked.

Ciaran Whelan followed that up quickly with a point to leave only a goal in the game.

The biggest roar of the day came with six minutes to go with the introduction of Kerry substitute Maurice Fitzgerald.

Dublin kicked six frees in the second half and a second goal from Enda Sheehy two minutes from normal time gave them a slender lead of a point.

However, Maurice Fitzgerald lived up to his supersub billing when he leveled the game from the sideline in injury time to set up a tantalising replay.

On a separate note, Croke Park will have to deal with several disgruntled fans as traffic congestion spoiled the game for many.

30,000 fans had not taken their seats with 10 minutes to throw-in and HQ will surely have to review the situation.
