Offaly senior hurler Johnny Pilkington has announced his retirement from the inter-county game.

Offaly senior hurler Johnny Pilkington has announced his retirement from the inter-county game.

He has described Sunday's loss at the hands of All Ireland champions Kilkenny as "the worst of my career".

The former All-Star made his debut for Offaly in 1990 and has been awarded two All Ireland senior hurling winners' medals and four Leinster Championship winners' medals.
