Hurling: Frampton out, Mullane in for Deise

Waterford's most experienced defender Stephen Frampton has been left out of the Deise starting line-up for Sunday's Munster Hurling Semi-Final against Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Ballygunner clubman has been battling a hand injury since the end of April, with Gerald McCarthy's management team deciding last night that he was too great a risk.

The centre-back spot goes instead to Peter Queally.

Former Tipperary star Fergal Hartley has been handed the centre-forward's number 11 jersey, instead of being given his usual centre-back berth. Hartley will be flanked by Lismore's Dan Shanahan and Ken McGrath of Mount Sion.

The lone Championship debutant is 21-year-old corner-forward John Mullane, who plays alongside Ardmore's Seamus Prendergast and Ballygunner sharp-shooter Paul Flynn in the full-forward line.

Flynn lines out for his ninth Championship season, while Prendergast starts a Championship game for the first time after coming on as sub against Tipperary in last year's losing opener.
