Roscommon pulled off the shock of the football championship so far when they scored a fully-deserved four-point win over last year's beaten All Ireland finalists Galway at Tuam.
After surviving a few early scares, Roscommon got on top at midfield and the rampant Nigel Dineen sifted a Roscommon goal in the 12th minute.
Galway full forward Padraig Joyce was in inspirational form and mainly through his efforts, Galway led by 0-08 to 1-04 into injury time at the end of the first half.
But Frankie Dolan sent Roscommon into the break with a two-point lead when he smacked home a sensational goal in the 37th minute.
Half time score: Roscommon 2-04, Galway 0-08.
Roscommon continued to dominate on the resumption and 19-year old Seamus O'Neill turned in a magnificent display of fielding, inspiring his side to this shock win.
Galway levelled the score by the 49th minute at 2-06 to 0-12 but Roscommon were not to be denied.,
They brought on Stephen Lohan and his two points helped Roscommon to stay ahead of the reigning champion.
Roscommon now meet Mayo or Sligo in the Connacht final on July 2.
Meanwhile, John O'Mahony's Galway will have to take their chances in the loser's group.
