GAA: Carlow face injury crisis
Carlow face a major injury crisis ahead of their National Hurling League Division Two clash with Kerry in Limerick on Saturday.
The midlanders will be missing five of their top players. Johnny Nevin, James Hickey and James Kavanagh are unavailable due to football commitments, while Padraig Keogh and Des Murphy, amongst others, are injured.
"We’re in a bit of difficulty," said Carlow manager, Michael Walsh.
"There’s a lack of enthusiasm because our league campaign is effectively finished. We couldn’t play three matches because of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, so it seems a bit meaningless to us at this stage.
"If we were after promotion we would be a lot more enthusiastic about the game."
Carlow’s championship campaign is also over following their recent defeat to Laois.
However, Clarke declared the season had not been without its merits.
"The Laois match was a big disappointment," he said. "But they had a big win over Meath on Monday, so maybe we shouldn’t have been that disappointed.
"We had a good win over Westmeath, we were very happy with that because we rate them as a good team. The intermediate championship is coming up soon so we’re looking forward to that."
