Jake Morris finished with eight points as Nenagh CBS pulled away in the second-half to beat Castletroy College 1-20 to 1-13 in Newport.

Leading 0-11 to 1-7 at half-time, Darren Coughlan with the Castletroy goal, Nenagh had a green flag of their own from Conor McCarthy and Morris, Seymour and Bryan McLoughney were all among the points. Mark O’Dwyer had 12 points for Castletroy.

Extra-time was required in the Waterford derby at Lemybrien before De La Salle won 1-18 to 0-16 against Blackwater CS. The Lismore school had led 0-14 to 0-10 with seven minutes left, Tom Barron featuring heavily on the scoreboard, but De La Salle sub Kevin Hennessy had them level with a goal with two minutes left. In the additional period, points from Harry Ruddle Redmond and Thomas Douglas were crucial.
