Camogie player's Halloween costume catches the eye
Hogan posted a picture on Instagram of a sliotar lodged in her right eye and her salient message is: “Always wear a helmet and keep your eye on the ball.”
Despite the stunning detail involved, Hogan revealed that it took her less than half an hour to put the look together. The 22-year-old Gailltír player is currently preparing for a Munster club final against Tipperary side Nenagh on November 12 but took time out to win Halloween with her scary look.
And she revealed: “This is a look I did last week, before Halloween. I was trying out a few looks and showed a few of the girls. They said I had to put it on Facebook straight away. I wasn’t doing it for Halloween, I did it last week messing around!”
Hogan revealed the inspiration behind her creation, explaining: “I was training there a few years ago and there was a drill where we had to block the ball. “I used to wear glasses under my helmet and the ball hit me on the helmet and broke the glasses inside, and cut my nose.
“I was in an awful state after it but there was a lesson there for me. I had seen a few people on Instagram who had done more or less the same thing with beer cans so I said I’d put a sliotar in. I train the U10s in the club and I’m always getting onto them about keeping their eye on the ball. It actually didn’t take that long, half an hour, a lot of messing around with latex, eye shadow and the rest,” said Hogan, a primary school teacher at St Martin’s, Waterford, where she works in the autistic unit.
