Cork GAA’s senior administrator Diarmuid O’Donovan has rejected claims that the preparation of intercounty teams has suffered due to the money spent on the redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

O’Donovan insisted that the allocations set aside for the multi-million euro stadium project “cannot be diverted for any other purpose”.

And he revealed that the board spent almost €1.5m on Cork inter-county teams last year — the largest figure in the county’s history.
