Na Piarsaigh manager Shane O’Neill said the club’s defeat by Loughgiel of Antrim in the 2011 All-Ireland club semi-final had forewarned them about Northern teams.

“Without a doubt,” said O’Neill.

“Some of the boys thought that was the most physical match they had played so there was no way we were going to get ambushed today. “It’s great for Limerick, I suppose we were only concentrating on ourselves and make sure we did the business. When you look back and reflect... this is the first time that a Limerick team has won in Croke Park in many years. To perform in the manner we did was great.”
