Survival out of our hands, says Aidan O’Shea

Aidan O’Shea has admitted that losing Mayo’s long-running status as a Division 1 team would be a major setback, though conceded that the situation has effectively been taken out of their hands.

Mayo’s defeat to Kerry on Sunday, their fourth loss in five Allianz League outings, has left them brooding over the fact that even if they win their remaining two games, they may not stay up.

The five-in-a-row Connacht champions can still finish on six points, a tally that has never seen a team relegated under the current format of the league.
