Shane McNaughton eyes starring role with Cushendall

His surname alone means he’ll always be synonymous with Antrim hurling but Shane McNaughton will shortly gain public recognition for an entirely different skill: his acting ability.

McNaughton — son of county legend ‘Sambo’ — is preparing for the AIB All-Ireland club hurling final with Cushendall.

But two weeks after that March 17 date, he will jet out to New York to pursue his burgeoning acting career in a play about the 1916 Rising.
