O’Driscoll, who has not kicked a football since Nemo Rangers’ Munster Club final defeat to Clonmel Commercials , is to undergo surgery in the coming weeks to repair the damage to his ankle.
A recent scan highlighted a fracture in his ankle and having seen a specialist on Wednesday, it was decided surgery was the best course of action, almost certain to keep the wing-back out of Cork’s remaining league fixtures.
The 26-year old did not tog for either of the county’s opening two league games and it is now questionable if O’Driscoll, similar to the injured Conor Dorman, will see any league-time this spring.
The Nemo man started all four Cork championship games last summer and was key in his club’s run to the Munster decider.
It is believed he first experienced difficulty during the county final with Castlehaven.
