Laois GAA chairman Gerry Kavanagh has accused the Leinster Council of inflicting “irreparable” damage to their integrity over the decision to fix a Leinster SFC game in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, next year.

Speaking at Monday night’s Laois GAA Convention, Kavanagh lashed out at the fixture, which would see Laois face Dublin at the Kilkenny venue on June 4 next, if they beat Wicklow in the opening round.

The Stradbally man also informed the meeting that he felt the game was fixed for Nowlan Park as a way to get back at Laois for what he called “perceived preferential treatment” afforded to them while Michael Delaney, a Laois man, was the chief executive of the Leinster Council.
