St Mary's secure comfortable victory over Carrigaline in Killarney

St Mary’s sauntered to Munster intermediate football glory in Killarney this afternoon.

Four unanswered points between the 38th and 48th minute propelled the Cahersiveen outfit five clear – 0-13 to 0-8 – and it was game over when Denis Daly pounced on a poor kick-out to strike the sole goal of the decider on 50 minutes.

Daniel Daly completed a comfortable win for the Kerry side with three points late as they ran out 10-point victors.

The Cork champions enjoyed the backing of a gale in the first period, but found themselves 0-8 to 0-6 in arrears at half-time.

Management’s decision to opt for a one man full-forward line for the entire opening quarter was somewhat baffling given the strength of the elements and while full-forward Brian Coakley kicked five first-half points, he was devoid of assistance inside.

At the other end, St Marys' movement and play was far more purposeful and intelligent; Bryan Sheehan, Denis Daly, Aidan Walsh, Paul O’Donoghue and Denis Daly on target for Maurice Fitzgerald’s side.
