The Down champions nipped into the lead (0-4 to 0-3) after 20 minutes and never looked back.
Kinscourt opened the scoring with a Barry Reilly free (5). Both sides relied on quick counter-attacks and in a tight-marking game early on, just classy points from Jerome Johnston (Kilcoo) and Barry Reilly (Kingscourt) added some flavour as the sides shared six points by the 19th minute.
Down star Conor Laverty’s then regained the lead for his side before the game was turned on its head in the 25th minute.
After a fluid eight man hand-passing move, Laverty fisted the ball across the face of the Kingscourt square for the in-running Paul Devlin to palm the ball to the net.
Defending a 1-7 to 0-4 half-time lead, Kilcoo kept up the pressure. Livewire corner forward Jerome Johnston fired home a soccer-like goal (35) to add further salt into Kingscourt’s wounds.
Kingscourt’s woes were multiplied by the dismissal (46) of their stand-out defender Padraig Faulkner before Paul Greenan notched Kilcoon’s third and final goal two minutes later to make it a 14 point game.
Daryl Branagan saw red late on but it was the only black spot on a luminous day for the black and red brigade.
