Barry-Murphy goes without Cadogan while Cork footballers omit Hurley

One change for one Cork team and two for the other as the pair put the final preparations to their do-or-die championship clashes at the weekend.

Barry-Murphy goes without Cadogan while Cork footballers omit Hurley

For Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final date with Galway at Semple Stadium, Jimmy Barry-Murphy has kept faith with all but one of the 15 that started last Sunday week’s qualifier win over Clare. Cork have reshuffled to accommodate Shane O’Neill in the full-back line with forward Alan Cadogan making way.

Ahead of facing Kildare in tomorrow evening’s fourth-round qualifier in Thurles, Brian Cuthbert has, as expected, made a couple of alterations with Eoin Cadogan overcoming the hamstring injury that prevented him from featuring in last weekend’s replay defeat to Kerry to return to the side where he is named at midfield and Colm O’Driscoll back for the first time since the Munster semi-final win over Clare.

They replace Paddy Kelly, who is ruled out through injury, and Brian Hurley who is named on the bench.

Kelly was replaced by Daniel Goulding in the 60th minute of last Saturday’s Munster final replay defeat to Kerry in Killarney. O’Driscoll was an unused substitute but had been called off the bench in the drawn game where he was issued with a black card. O’Driscoll will now be expected to take up one of the sweeper roles alongside Paul Kerrigan.

Meanwhile, Armagh and Dublin are understood to have been fined for the row that erupted prior to their recent challenge game in North Dublin.

No proposed suspensions are believed to have been handed down.

Meanwhile, Cork’s hurlers could play Kilkenny or Tipperary should they and Dublin win their respective games in Thurles. As provincial runners-up, Galway and Waterford can’t face Kilkenny and Tipperary respectively. One need only win to prevent a draw but as Cork and Dublin have not yet played Kilkenny and Tipperary, one will have to take place should they come through the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Fermanagh boss Pete McGrath has named the same side that beat Roscommon for tomorrow’s round 2b qualifier meeting with Leinster runners-up Westmeath.
