Sheedy informed the Longford executive of his decision late on Tuesday, citing the impact of the job on his family life as the primary reason for departing.

The former Dublin footballer is the third inter-county football manager to resign in the space of four days, Tipperary’s Peter Creedon and Derry Brian McIver’s stepping off the managerial carousel over the weekend.
