Philip Mahony aims to make amends for the ‘shame’

The words of Anthony Daly to the Dublin players last year as he compared the emotion of losing to Cork in an All-Ireland semi-final to that of being trounced by Kilkenny in last July’s Leinster final.
Same results maybe but so very different sentiments. Those same words in Daly’s autobiography inspired Derek McGrath as he put as much distance between his difficult first season as Waterford manager and this year where his side enjoyed an unbeaten league run. Distinguishing the two couldn’t have been more important. If you’re going to die, don’t die wondering.
