Paul Murray strikes winner as Cappoquin pip Lismore

A last-gasp Paul Murray point pinched victory for Cappoquin over local rivals Lismore at Ballyduff last night (2-16 to 2-15). It represented an amazing turnaround for Ger Manley’s men after their 23-point defeat to Mount Sion last weekend.

Jack Prendergast’s goal helped Lismore into an eight-point lead but Maurice Shanahan hobbled off with a suspected ankle knock just before half time and the Cornerstone boys showed their mettle.

Andy Molumby rippled the net on 27 minutes and Killian O’Sullivan scrambled home a second goal on 40 minutes to send them in front for the first time. Dan Shananhan netted for Lismore on 50 minutes to regain the lead briefly. Cappoquin remained calm before Murray supplied the decisive last minute point.
