Seamus Callanan escapes suspension for League semi-final

Tipperary's Allianz hurling league title hopes have received a major boost with confirmation that Seamus Callanan is free from suspension.

The current Hurler of the Year was last night successful with his appeal against the red card picked up in the quarter-final win over Offaly.

Callanan was dismissed for an off the ball incident early in the second-half of that contest and had been set to miss Sunday's semi-final with Waterford.

Boss Eamon O'Shea held off on announcing his line-up but received the good news last night that his key attacker will feature following clearance from the Central Appeals Committee.

It's a significant boost following confirmation that fellow forward Noel McGrath will undergo testicular cancer surgery today, ruling him out of the game indefinitely.
