The pair both picked up hamstring injuries in last month’s league loss to Tipperary in Páirc Uí Rinn.
“Mark and Alan have been working hard to get back into contention,” Barry-Murphy said after yesterday’s three-point win over Laois in Ballacolla.
“The two lads will be back certainly, but we will assess them more during the week, but I am happy that they will be available.”
The game, commemorating Laois’s lone All-Ireland SHC triumph 100 years ago, began on a positive note for the hosts, but ultimately Paudie O’Sullivan’s sharpshooting proved the difference between the sides.
Laois led 0-6 to 0-2 after 10 minutes, with Zane Keenan, Paddy Purcell and Ross King firing early scores, but despite a string of stunning saves from keeper Eoin Reilly, they let Cork into contention, with Luke Meade levelling after 28 minutes at 0-10 apiece.
Laois pushed ahead with a trio of Keenan points, but O’Sullivan’s goal ensured a 1-11 to 0-14 interval scoreline. Cork led for the first time five minutes after the restart, and although Laois kept in touch, Cork worked hard for the win, with O’Sullivan and Jamie Coughlan impressive.
