Second-half goals from Stefan Forker and Oisin MacIomhair gave the Orchard County an easy win in Creggan to keep them in the hunt for a place in the McKenna Cup semi-final.

Armagh could go through from Section C as the best runners-up if they record a big win over St Mary’s on Wednesday.

Jamie Clarke was surprisingly positioned in the half-back line and was sent off for two yellow cards.

Down also got their first win of the season, beating Monaghan 1-12 to 0-11 in Clones.

However the win came at a price, with former All Star Kevin McKernan stretchered off with 10 minutes remaining.

Donal O’Hare had a Down goal after 20 seconds and despite hitting eight first-half wides, the Mournemen still led by 1-5 to 0-7 at the break.

Points from Paul Finlay and Darren Hughes kept Monaghan in touch, while their goalkeeper Enda Duffy pulled off a number of fine saves.

Two late points from Paul Devlin ensured Jim McCorry earned his first victory in charge of the Mournemen.

UUJ stunned Cavan on Saturday night with a 1-8 to 0-10 victory at Kingspan Breffni Park. Mayo forward Cillian O’Connor did most of the scoring for the students and converted a penalty after 16 minutes.
