Seamus Callanan misses one-on-one penalty but Tipperary still prevail over Wexford

Tipperary 2-15 Wexford 0-16: Seamus Callanan missed a one-on-one penalty as Tipperary beat Wexford by five points in yesterday’s senior hurling challenge at Leahy Park, Cashel.

Substitute Callanan was denied by Wexford netminder Niall Breen in the second half as firm evidence emerged that not even a tweak to the rules, as proposed by the Hurling 2020 review committee, will guarantee a desired result for the striker.

Goals in either half from David Butler and Conor Kenny paved the way for Tipp’s victory.
