Canning carrying on with Portumna

Former All Stacccr defender Ollie Canning says he has no intentions of hanging up his hurley and plans to play on into his 39th year.

Canning carrying on with Portumna

Canning captained Portumna to All-Ireland club glory last March, but was disappointed to see their Galway club and All-Ireland defence come to an end at the hands of Gort in the Galway final.

And despite carving out a television career for himself with Sky Sports, Canning says he wants to give the club at least another year.

“I will give it another shot. I think if I can contribute to the team I may as well. I always said it and I am still enjoying my hurling so I will still play for as long as I can,” said Canning, who played 14 seasons for the Tribesmen before quitting in 2010.
