Mulcahy hails latest win as Cork’s best
Mulcahy hit 1-5 in Cork’s maiden All-Ireland success back in 2005, the then 21-year old picking up the player of the match award in their 1-11 to 0-8 dismissal of Galway.
The Rockbán forward again collected the crystal on offer on Sunday, her six point contribution central to Cork’s recovery mission.
“I thought the first couldn’t be beaten. To be written off and come back is unbelievable,” she said.
“Before half-time we weren’t playing well. We had played our worst football. The management were positive at half-time because they knew we were down. We would be our own worst critics. They said we had nothing to lose.
“The first few minutes of the second-half didn’t look good either when Dublin came again. We kept going and that is us, we don’t give up. Definitely this ranks as the sweetest because we were dead and buried.”
Mulcahy was guilty of kicking several deplorable wides, claiming the team showed remarkable character to eke out victory despite the countless opportunities missed.
“Nothing was said entering the final quarter. Our communication is in our body language. If someone wins the ball everyone feeds off that.”
