In a repeat of the 2012 final, St Pat’s had to overcome a one-point interval deficit after conceding a soft goal from a Paraic Smith free in the 28th minute.
Two early second-half points from man of the match Eoin O’Connor, and another from Karl White regained the lead for the Cooley Peninsula side and they defended to the end.
But by wasting several good chances they could never relax.
Dreadnots also found scores hard to come by and it wasn’t until three minutes from time that they added to their half-time tally, James Califf, the player they were over-dependant on for scores, converting his fifth free.
The big midfielder also went for goal with a close-in free with time almost up, but it flew over the bar and the point was not enough to give the team from Clogherhead a first senior title.
