How McGuinness put the show back on the road

With each Donegal victory this summer, a nugget of information about how Jim McGuinness put the show back on the road has been unearthed.

After winning a third Ulster title in four years, Karl Lacey spoke of the manager’s unilateral meeting with the players. “Jim met us and he told us what his plans were and if anybody didn’t want to be part of that, and to let him know within a week. That’s the way it was.”

Following the semi-final win over Dublin, Neil McGee spoke of how he was in Michael Murphy’s car heading to International Rules training in Dublin last September when the driver received a message and turned the car around to do his bit in convincing the manager to stay on.
