Fans set to flock to camogie finals

Kilkenny contest the senior and intermediate finals against Cork and Limerick respectively while Down meet Laois in the junior showpiece.
Camogie Association president Aileen Lawlor said: âWe have close on 10,000 tickets sold already so the hope is to push that towards 17 or 18,000 in the coming days,â she said. â15,000 is generally the benchmark for us on All-Ireland final Sunday. But we are confident of surpassing that this weekend.â
Meanwhile, all six teams will have the names of the players on the backs of their jerseys on Sunday. Camogie has led the way in this approach in recent years but this will be the first time the junior sides will also carry names.
Lawlor said: âThe idea is that helmets obviously donât reveal the playerâs identity and that is particularly important when we are striving to promote the game and the players. Camogie finals are our best attended games each year so adding the surname to the jersey will make it easier for the supporters in the stands and the viewers on TV.
âAn All-Ireland jersey is a treasured memento for players and personalising it will add to that even more. All through the All-Ireland campaign the focus has been on âstanding out from the crowdâ by focusing on the playersâ lives and stories, by seeing them in a new light through imaginative photography and then backing this up with ticketing packages that makes it easier and more affordable to attend games.â
