Tribe minor and U21s must join Leinster

LEINSTER SHC SEMI-FINAL:

Tribe minor and U21s must join Leinster

Since just before the turn of the millennium Galway (six titles – 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011) and Kilkenny (four — 2002, 2003, 2008 & 2010) have won the lion’s share of All-Ireland minor titles between them. In four of those years the two counties provided both finalists (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009), Galway also reaching a further three finals (2000, 2006, 2012).

Stepping up to U21, already the falloff in Galway is starting to happen. At this grade it’s Kilkenny leading the roll in the same period, five titles (1999, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008) to Galway’s three (2005, 2007, 2011), Galway losing a further five finals, Kilkenny losing three (they met just once, Kilkenny winning in 2003).
