Sheedy backs provincial championships

Hurling review committee chairman Liam Sheedy has pledged his support to retaining the structure of the provincial championships.

The structure of the All-Ireland SHC falls under the remit of the Hurling 2020 forum and Sheedy is adamant the Munster and Leinster competitions should not be tinkered with.

The former Tipperary boss did not rule out the introduction of an open draw structure, but only if this incorporates the provincial championships. “I think after watching the last two weeks, it would be very difficult to ditch the Munster championship,” Sheedy said.
