The Castlehaven midfielder, not part of the Cork set-up during the league, was listed on Brian Cuthbert’s 28-man championship panel, announced yesterday.
Dineen featured prominently at number eight in Castlehaven’s successful defence of the Andy Scannell Cup last October and is reported to have impressed during their Kelleher Shield fixtures this spring.
Kevin Crowley is the only member of the U21 outfit to garner selection, with eight further members of the county’s Munster underage winning team listed as development players who will work with the squad.
Micheál Ó Laoire (Naomh Abán), John McLoughlin (Kanturk), Kevin O’Driscoll (Tadhg MacCárthaigh) and Alan Cronin (Nemo Rangers) are notable omissions, having featured during the league campaign.
The Cork footballers spent three days in Limerick last week as part of a training camp before returning to their clubs ahead of the first round of the Cork SFC.
Half-forward Paul Kerrigan welcomed the inter-county break following a mentally taxing league campaign.
“It was good to get together for a couple of days as we won’t see each other now for three weeks,” said the Nemo Rangers man.
“We worked out a couple of things, areas of weakness and that gave us something to think about, something to work on while we are away. It is all geared towards the Munster semi-final now. It is almost like a new pre-season again.
“The management are very good to give the lads back to the clubs because I have done feck all with club as of yet. It was a long league and you are more mentally tired than anything else. We got a league semi-final which was an extra competitive game under our belts.
Meanwhile, Derry make just one enforced change ahead of their league final meeting with Dublin. Aidan McAlynn comes in at wing-back for Sean Leo McGoldrick who sustained a knee injury in club action with Coleraine.
