Devenney called on GAA hierarchy to redistribute the financial revenue generated from the Sky broadcasting deal among the lesser counties, but the harsh reality, he lamented, is that the gap between those at either ends of the football spectrum will only widen.

“Elite county teams is what is driving the GAA,” he fumed.
