Power and Fennelly back with Cats
The 28-year-old’s return to the squad is a major boost to the Cats as they also welcome back 2011 hurler of the year Michael Fennelly who spent three months in Australia.
There had been conjecture Power’s absence from the Kilkenny set-up was an indefinite one as he wasn’t part of the 40-strong panel, which commenced training in November.
The Carrickshock man had a number of meetings with management and trained away on his own. However, he has rejoined the squad this week.
Fennelly has resumed training and is showing no ill-effects of the ankle injury that excluded him from last year’s club championship.
Another All Star Podge Collins is expected to be available for Clare’s hurlers for Sunday week’s Division 1A clash with Tipperary in Semple Stadium.
Collins lined out with the footballers against London last weekend, missing the hurlers’ visit to Dublin, and is likely to be available to his father and manager Colm Collins again this weekend.
Dublin’s Paul Ryan is set to miss at least another Division 1A game as he rests an injured groin. The Ballyboden St Enda’s man missed Sunday’s defeat to Clare after pulling up with the problem in a training game last Thursday evening.
Tipperary make four changes to the team that drew with Waterford in their round two fixture for Sunday’s Division 4 with London.
Alan Campbell, Robbie Kiely, Lorcan Egan and Cathal Dillon replace Paddy Codd, Ger Mulhare, George Hannigan and Michael Quinlivan. The latter who was in action twice for UCC footballers last weekend.
