And Ryan claims that he has received messages of support from “all over the world” following the attempted clampdown on players moving the sliotar forward from dead balls.

Cork had backed their keeper when a motion emerged looking to change the rule at Congress. But on Friday evening, the motion was withdrawn from the Clár, as officials felt the proposed rule change would not gain the required two-thirds majority and the matter has now been referred to Central Council for discussion at their next meeting on March 22.
