Donegal GAA chairman Seán Dunnion said the board had to ‘stand by’ Patrick McBrearty after he was the alleged victim of a bite last year.

Dunnion was responding to Páraic Duffy, the GAA’s director general, who criticised Donegal and Dublin for their attitude to the investigation.

A Dublin player was charged and given a three-match ban by the CCCC (Central Competition Controls Committee) but eventually cleared by the CHC (Central Hearings Committee) when McBrearty opted not to give evidence following the alleged incident during last April’s Allianz League fixture in Ballybofey.
