No video evidence has yet been supplied by Dublin or DCU to the Leinster Council disciplinary sub-committee investigating the possibility of a biting incident in Sunday week’s O’Byrne Cup game.

A second-half incident in Parnell Park was brought to the attention of referee David Gough who mentioned it in his report, although he didn’t witness it.

The group charged with looking into the matter have requested unedited original recordings of the game from both camps. It is understood the game was recorded by one person for the benefit of both sides.

However, it is feared that no video evidence will be forthcoming, similar to last year’s Paddy McBrearty case. Speaking yesterday, GAA directorgeneral Páraic Duffy declined to go into detail about the latest development, but said: “It’s disappointing we are dealing with another such incident.”

He conceded it may not have happened had the McBrearty case come to a satisfactory conclusion. “It’s possible. That’s probably a reasonable assumption to make.”

The sub-committee hope to put forward a recommendation to Leinster’s Competitions ControlCommittee prior to the province’s annual convention in Croke Park this Saturday when Dublin’s John Horan succeeds Martin Skelly as chairman.
