McGinley: New rules suit us
He has warned that the Red Hands will exploit the opportunities offered by the new rule, by adopting a running game and an attacking strategy that will put opposing defences under pressure.
“The black card is going to create chances for teams that run at teams,” said McGinley.
“We always felt that it wasn’t going to be a negative thing for this county.
“A lot of hype in the media maybe had it that way, that it was going to be negative for us. But we’re embracing it.
“The black card effectively lets you run at teams, and we’re full of pace in every line of the pitch.
“Direct running down the middle and try and create as many chances as possible — any team that’s going to do well this year is going to have to take advantage of whatever way the rule book is.
“It’s always been the case, that the teams that do that, come out on top in September, so we’re going to have to be cute and smart about it. We’re going to play to our strengths as well, and I think it will suit us.”
