Debate rages as black day dawns

As Gaelic football gets set to greet/tolerate/weather (delete as appropriate) the black card over the next 24 hours, it’s worth recalling it used to be yellow.

The Football Review Committee’s (FRC) initial proposal was to make a yellow card an automatic substitution offence.

However, the alteration was made after GAA director general Páraic Duffy admitted this time last year that it “may be too severe”. He added: “There’s no point going to Congress with a proposal that is not going to be passed.”
