Rock doubtful but Curran confident Ballymun can finish the job in replay against Vincent’s

Boss Paul Curran insists Dublin SFC holders Ballymun Kickhams haven’t handed vital momentum to St Vincent’s ahead of tonight’s county SFC final replay.

Ballymun blew a five point lead with just a minute to go in normal time last weekend, eventually finishing level after extra-time.

They have serious injury concerns also ahead of this evening’s rematch back at Parnell Park.

Key forward Dean Rock, Dublin’s super sub throughout the successful All-Ireland championship campaign, will be given a fitness test at 4pm today.

He scored eight points in the drawn game but twisted his knee late on and suffered significant swelling after the game.

Wing-back James Burke is also described by Curran as ‘a major concern’ though Karl Connolly and Kevin Leahy both look set to make it.

Despite all the negatives, Curran said the fact that the beaten All-Ireland finalists are still in with a shout of defending their county title is a big positive.

Tonight’s winners will qualify for a Leinster club quarter-final clash with Westmeath champions St Loman’s on Sunday.

That will amount to three huge games in a week, although Ballymun, if they progress, will at least be boosted by the return of the suspended Jason Whelan, who featured for Dublin this year.
