For the second time in three years, Offaly’s Brian Gavin has been handed the role of officiating the All-Ireland final.

The Clara native has taken charge of a number of prominent Championship games this year already, including the Kilkenny-Tipperary qualifier, having officiated their 2011 decider.

He was also referee for Clare’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Galway and the Limerick-Tipperary Munster semi-final but has yet to take charge of a Championship game involving Cork this summer.
