First-half missed frees crucial, but Allen admits tactical failure

Limerick manager John Allen was his usual honest self after yesterday’s game, even while admitting to a green tint to his perspective.

Allen acknowledged Clare’s tactical supremacy.

“We were aware that they might use the tactic they’d used against Joe Canning and we had named Declan Hannon at full-forward but intended him to play corner-forward, which he did so that if they were using that tactic, their sweeper would be taken into that third of the field rather than two-thirds of the field,” he said.
