Cork hurling selector Kieran Kingston feels ‘justice has been done’ after the Central Hearings Committee opted not to impose a suspension on Patrick Horgan.

Horgan was controversially sent off in the Munster final defeat to Limerick eight days ago after catching the helmet of Paudie O’Brien with his hurley minutes before the interval. But Cork GAA chiefs appealed the proposed ban, taking their case to the CHC which discussed the matter at Croke Park on Saturday morning. It is understood that officials accepted the forward’s testimony that the incident was accidental and downgraded referee James McGrath’s decision to a yellow card.

“We’re delighted, as we feel that justice has been done,” Kingston said, “but it’s a case of focusing on Kilkenny now.
