Valleys easily pass tame test
John Cottrell and captain Eoin Delaney (0-2 from frees) were on fire for Valleys scoring 0-6 each, as the victors registered 1-17 from play.
Valleys, who led 1-6 to 1-2 at half-time, Derek Canty’s 13th minute bullet-like goal a highlight of their showing, added a further 0-13 in the second half while Erin’s Own, courtesy of frees from Ian Mylod and Niall Scanlon (two), could only muster 0-3 after the interval.
In fact, after James O’Carroll hit 1-1 in the eighth minute after Cottrell had opened the scoring, Erin’s Own failed to add another score from play, Scanlon’s 16th minute free their only other score of the opening half.
The second half was one-sided with Canty, Delaney, Darragh Looney, Gary Farrell, substitute Jack Murphy, scorer of 0-3, Cottrell and Darragh Murphy all contributing to the scoreboard for Valleys.
