St Brendan’s opened the scoring with a John Dowling point but that was as good as it got for the away side in the opening quarter as three Milltown scores followed from Ian Twiss, Pa Wren and Donal Kelliher.
Two goals from David Culloty rattled the home side but Milltown responded with one of their own through Twiss to leave the game hard to call, 2-4 to 1-5, at half-time.
