Harrington hit 0-7 (0-5 frees) and afterwards their coach Justin McCarthy opined: “It was a lively game. We got a good start and overall, battled hard and the lads showed a tremendous attitude. Aghabullogue are always tough to beat but we were fresh coming in, produced a very good team display and deserved the win.”

Harrington and Dave O’Sullivan pointed for Barryroe before scores from Michael Dennehy and Finbarr Foley (free) tied the game.

However, Barryroe hit seven on the spin, including scores from Harrington 0-3 (0-2 frees), Adrian Fleming, Michael O’Brien, Kieran Griffin and O’Sullivan, to lead 0-9 to 0-2.

Greg Murphy netted for Aghabullogue on 25 minutes before Harrington and Donal Twomey exchanged points as Barryroe led 0-10 to 1-3 at half-time.

By the 42nd minute, Barryroe were 0-16 to 1-6 clear following frees from Griffin and Harrington and further scores from O’Brien, Denis Harrington and Ciarán Hurley while Donal Twomey, Foley and Dan Twomey battled to keep Aghabullogue in touch. However, John Corkery, Foley (free) and Donal Twomey reduced the gap, 0-16 to 1-9.

Still, Fleming and O’Brien ensured Donal Twomey’s point and Dan Twomey’s subsequent major in the 60th minute would not be enough for Aghabullogue.
