Subbed Brogan happy to be a team player

There’s any amount of ways to measure Dublin’s progress under Jim Gavin this year but one of the most obvious is to point out that the wherewithal to win a Division One league final without either Bernard or Alan Brogan on the pitch.

Gavin has yet to know the luxury of what it is to call on the services of Alan due to injury this year and he felt comfortable enough to call Bernard ashore with 12 minutes to go of the Allianz decider against Tyrone with the scores level at 0-14 apiece.

Not many other sides, if any, could hope to thrive as the Leinster champions have without the input of two former Footballers of the Year and yet Dublin went on to edge out Mickey Harte’s side by a point to claim a first league crown in two decades.
