Diarmuid O’Donovan has emerged as favourite for the new administrator position with the Cork County Board.

O’Donovan, a senior executive with the Evening Echo newspaper, has extensive coaching experience at club level in Cork as well as managing the Cork minor footballers in 2001. He comes from a family steeped in the GAA — his late father Donie won Cork senior hurling and football medals with Glen Rovers and St Nicholas, and managed Cork to the 1973 All-Ireland senior football title.
