Murphy takes it all in his stride

Michael Murphy has many qualities, but one of the most outstanding possessed by the Donegal captain is the level of responsibility he takes upon his young shoulders.

Murphy takes it all in his stride

Last weekend in Omagh, 23-year-old Murphy saw Tyrone goalkeeper Niall Morgan save his penalty and the Glenswilly forward was sent off in the aftermath. Yesterday’s match against Kerry was only five minutes old when Ross Wherity was grounded and up stepped Murphy again. This time he made no mistake, part of 1-5 he scored on the day.

“Coming off the back of the defeat against Tyrone it was important to get the result today,” Murphy said. “We put a big emphasis on getting a few early scores and that gave us a platform. For me, last Spring I was in and out with injuries so I’m just loving the fact I’m fit this time of year.

“Last week my penalty didn’t go well but I was fortunate to get the chance straight away to put it right.”
