Gooch out for key league clashes

Kerry boss Eamon Fitzmaurice yesterday confirmed Colm Cooper will not be involved in the county’s next two outings away to Kildare and Donegal.

Gooch is recovering from knocks picked up over a gruelling club championship campaign with Dr Crokes which ended in disappointment last Saturday against Ballymun Kickams.

“We are going to be leaving Colm out of the next couple of league games because of a couple of knocks,” Fitzmaurice said.

“He has an ankle knock and another couple of bits and pieces and we are just giving him a chance to recuperate.”

Fitzmaurice again faces a busy weekend as he’ll be hoping to steer Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne to back-to-back Corn Uí Mhuiri finals with victory over St Brendan’s College tomorrow before travelling to Newbridge for Sunday’s Allianz FL clash with Kildare.
