Limerick GAA chiefs have bucked the economic downturn securing a new high profile sponsor for their senior hurling championship.

Treaty get motoring with ‘substantial’ new deal

Shannonside officials have inked a deal with the Hyundai Limerick Motor Centre, to the delight of secretary Mike O’Riordan. He said: “I want to put on record our gratitude to 95FM for the last 11 years of sponsorship but now the O’Meara family and Hyundai have come on board and they’re willing to invest in our competition as well. I can’t tell you the exact amount, but it’s substantial. It’s not just a financial package either, they bring a lot more. Overall they’re an excellent sponsor for us to have, there’s an added value to what they’re doing.”

Hyundai Ireland MD Stephen Gleeson added: “We have a great market-share in Limerick, one of the highest in Ireland and when the guys approached us and said they’d like us to help them secure this sponsorship we thought, look, Limerick has been good to us, Limerick GAA is a good brand in its own right, the right thing to do is to put something back in. The GAA is a natural fit for us.”
